One of the best and most affordable things to do in London is to explore the city’s museums, many of which are free to the public. London is home to some of the world’s top museums, while also hosting plenty of small, offbeat museums. Do keep in mind that while the permanent collections are free to visit at the museums listed below, you will have to pay to visit special exhibitions and traveling exhibitions. Here’s what not to miss:
- The British Museum is one of the most famous museums in the world. The permanent collection is one of the finest and most extensive. Be sure to see the Rosetta Stone and the Egyptian mummies.
- There’s a stretch of road in London’s South Kensington neighborhood that boasts three of London’s best museums including The Science Museum and The National History Museum, which are both great for kids. There’s also the Victoria & Albert Museum, which is internationally known for its fashion gallery, jewelry gallery and the blue-and-green Dale Chihuly chandelier in the entrance.
