The Ritz
Possibly one of the most beautiful dining rooms in the world, the opulent baroque-style interior of The Ritz; glitzy chandeliers, gilded décor, make it a very special place to dine. It was awarded its first Michelin star for chef John Williams MBE and his culinary prowess, sourcing the finest seasonal British produce; it’s an incredible event.
Fera, Claridges
In Mayfair, British superstar chef and owner Simon Rogan of L’Enclume – his restaurant in Cumbria with two stars is believed to be the UK’s best restaurant – has his hands firmly on the reins at Fera. The small plates are inspired by the seasons; Fera means ‘wild’ in Latin, and Rogan is known for his focus on foraging. The delight of tasting menu is yours for £110.
Le Gavroche
An institution in its own right, Le Gavroche with its incredible French cuisine opened back in 1967. It was the first UK restaurant to be honored with one, two and three Michelin stars, respectively. The Roux brothers were the pioneers but Michel Roux Jr has now taken over and is the guiding force of the restaurant. Le Gavroche has a such a loyal following it’s hard to get a table, but if not try Roux at The Landau or Parliament Square.
Sketch
The avant-garde Lecture Room & Library at Sketch is not just about food as it’s classical design (plus other fantastical rooms) and ambiance are a talking point. Contrasting with Sketch’s space-age bar – and even the futuristic pod toilets complete with birdsong – dining at this pretty 18th– century townhouse tearoom is a pleasure. Afternoon tea here is a fancy affair that should be lingered over.
Restaurant Gordon Ramsay
Serving excellent French fare, world-renowned superstar chef Gordon Ramsay’s flagship restaurant in Chelsea is one of just two three-Michelin-starred dining establishments in London. The sophisticated eatery is impressive with soft, relaxing interiors and Clare Smyth as chef-patron. Expect an inspirational food experience that will wow any guest.
