Ever wonder what 100,000 inflated balloons crammed into a London’s Convent Garden market hall might look like? (Really, you did?) Well, we can assure you that it’s quite a sight! Head down to Covent Garden this month and you can find out for yourself.

French artist Charles Pétillon’s latest installation, Heartbeat, features 100,000 balloons in Covent Garden’s Grade II listed Market Building. His first exhibition outside of France, it’s a seriously breathtaking sight that we highly recommend. Stretching 54 metres in length, Pétillon said of the display: “The balloon invasions I create are metaphors. With Heartbeat I wanted to represent the Market Building as the beating heart of this area – connecting its past with the present day to allow visitors to re-examine its role at the heart of London’s life.”

The moodily lit balloons give an atmospheric feel to domed ceiling of London's Convent Gardens Market Hall.

With plenty to do and see in the area, once you’ve seen the display we recommend eating in one of Covent Garden’s finest restaurants. With everything from burger bars to Jamie Oliver’s café and the popular Ivy Market Grill, you’re sure to find something you like. The London Transport Museum is a particular highlight of the area, too. Even if you don’t have time to visit, their Transport Museum gift shop is a lot of fun. If you’re in the Covent Garden area this month, be sure to pop by to check out this exhibit. Its one not to be missed! But hurry, it’s only on display until September 27th, 2015.
