Our Lancaster apartment in London.

The greatest pleasure in renting a superb vacation apartment in London is to come home after a busy day to a warm welcome of beautiful surroundings, sunny rooms, quality furniture, comfortable bed and bathroom -- a nest to call home in London. Our Lancaster London apartment offers all of this for up to 2 people. This spacious short term apartment is located on one of the prettiest and most secluded streets in the heart of London.

This short term apartment in London is located off of Kensington Church Street in the center of Kensington. The street is frequently photographed in the spring when all of the cherry trees that line the street of white Victorian mansions are in bloom with gorgeous bursts of pink flowers.

You are surrounded by dozens of cafés, restaurants and the chic shops of Kensington, so you can eat out daily or shop for food and cook at home. Kensington is the home of Kensington Gardens, where you can walk, picnic, bicycle, enjoy the new Princess Diana Playground, or visit the Royal Costume Collection in her former home of Kensington Palace. Enjoy shopping along High Street Kensington at chic boutiques, hip clothing stores, or the ever convenient Marks & Spencers department and grocery store.

Museum Row is a few minutes walk away from our London short let apartment: the Natural History Museum, National Science Museum, Geographic Society and Victoria and Albert Museum. The National Lottery has provided funds to finance museums for the past decade and the new displays and exhibitions are fascinating for young and old alike.

Walk through Kensington Gardens, along ‘Rotten Row’ (the 18th century Englishman’s pronunciation of ‘Route du Roi’ or The King’s Avenue) and you arrive at Harrods, Harvey Nichols and the upscale designers of Sloane Street.

This London apartment is on the first floor (second floor American) of a pretty white stucco Victorian building. There is no elevator, but it is a short walk up the steps from the lobby. Enter the apartment to the best floor of any Victorian building, the one with the highest ceilings and balcony.

On your left, find the master bedroom, decorating in creams and pale lavenders. The room has a large window facing the back garden, which means it is extremely quiet. The queen-sized bed is high quality and brand new. On the right, there is plenty of cupboard space for storage.

Adjoining the bedroom, find the bathroom, tiled in pale blue and natural colored tiles from Spain. The bathroom has a relaxing tub with shower, toilet and sink; it is newly remodeled and very pretty.

Return to the main corridor and enter the piece de resistance, the living room. This is a stunning room, as two enormous Victorian windows open wide so you can step onto the white stucco balcony on summer days, enjoying the quiet, cherry tree-lined street. Facing east, the apartment has plenty of sun in the morning. The pale red sofa is the best of English upholstery as pure feather filled cushions mean you sink in and relax when you are home. The accent color is a soft teal, with an armchair and upholstered bench create a relaxing living room when you are home.

The large screen Sony TV, VCR and stereo mean you can watch TV or simply enjoy tea and classical music from the wide selection of music CD’s in the apartment.

Our friend, the owner, is an art collector with exquisite taste in colors. The paintings which fill the apartment are beautiful and compliment the comfortable, sumptuous furnishings.

The large cupboards in the entryway and woodwork in the living room are painted in pale teal to match the kitchen cupboards, creating a soothing and harmonious feel for guests. There are plenty of books, meaning you can curl up and relax in comfort on slower days.

There is a small desk next to the sofa, with fax machine and a sliding shelf so you can work at your computer while you are there. There is a free high speed ADSL computer line.

The maple dining table in the living room has a rich finish and matches the parquet floors of the kitchen. The table sits between the two windows and expands to seat up to 6, so you can invite friends over for dinner.

The spacious kitchen is next, painted in tones of pale teal with long worktops, loads of cupboard space and every accessory and appliances needed for cooking a gourmet meal: toaster, coffee pot, tea kettle, dishwasher, under-the counter refrigerator/freezer and beautiful pottery.

Sorry, but smoking and pets are not allowed.

We think this is one of the prettiest apartments you could rent in London and you will have a delightful stay here!
