Norfolk: Your Home in London
This stunning house is located in the street adjacent to the
Essex
house and is equally special. It is located at the end of a small street, a hidden treasure in the center of prestigious Kensington. It is a very quiet street, where 3 houses face 3 other Victorian houses. It is extremely quiet and is surrounded by gardens and trees.
It’s hard to describe the sense of history and delight you feel when you discover this neighborhood. When you stroll down this small street, you feel that you have been transported to an earlier century, when Queen
Victoria
reigned over the
British Empire
. Even the access is delightful: it is accessible by car, but also by a ‘secret’ path thru the cloisters of the famous St. Mary Abbott’s Church, on the corner of Kensington High Street.
Enter this gorgeous house from a small paved garden which is lined by just 6 houses, to find a beautiful home. It has been painstakingly remodeled and is beautifully maintained. It is designer furnished in warm colors with excellent taste and the highest quality furniture. It is a stunning home and would be ideal for a large family or two smaller ones to share.
Ground Floor:
You feel at home the moment you step in the door. Enter to find the living room on your right, with large working fireplace and comfortable sofa and armchairs in camel colored velvet and cotton. There is a plush camel colored sofa, 2 large armchairs and a large kilim covered coffee table in the center. Kilim cushions give the room a warm and comfortable feeling; a large window looks out onto the front garden which is paved in
york
stone. The working fireplace is a special touch on cold days and in the evening, just enjoying the company of friends and family.
There is satellite tv, for CNN, CNBC and naturally all of the English Channels. There is also a dvd player, so bring your favorite movies.
The dining area is next; a mahogany dining table has rust colored chairs and seats up to 8 people. There are two sets of dishes, from high quality Chinese porcelain to simple earthenware; all table linens and cutlery are provided.
The kitchen is at the back of the ground floor, a large and cheerful room because of its large glass conservatory roof. There is a maple countertop and lots of counter space for cooking. The adjacent pantry houses a large refrigerator/freezer, separate washer and dryer and dishwasher. There is every conceivable appliance for baking, cooking, coffee and tea making, etc.
Behind the pantry is the first bathroom, with toilet, sink and modern glass shower.
First Floor:
Proceed up the stairs to the first floor, where you find the first bedroom, with charming ship’s captain bed, decorated in cheerful reds. A second trundle bed pulls out underneath. Children love it as it’s their own, cozy room with pretty window and bookshelves at the foot of the bed.
Next, facing the front of the house, find the second drawing room and study, decorated in blues and camel colors. The second drawing room has a working fireplace and beautiful Georgian windows where the sunlight streams in during the day. There are two sofas, very comfortable for relaxing after a long day of walking. This room connects to the study with sofa, armchair and mahogany desk. We provide an extra bed to make this the 5th bedroom; the doors can be closed off for privacy.
Second Floor:
On the second floor, find another charming bedroom at the top of the stairs, this one decorated in blues. There is another captain’s bed, a delight for children.
A powder room is just off this bedroom with toilet and small sink.
The master bedroom is at the front, a large and beautiful room decorated in delft blues with white comforter. There is a king sized bed, tv, dvd player and large storage closets in beautiful limed oak.
The bedroom leads to a stunning en suite bath with long countertops, oak closets, bathtub with shower, toilet and sink. It is a very spacious and sunny room, excellent for taking long baths or showers.
Third Floor:
Walk up to the third floor to the 4th bedroom, with 2 single beds, small sofa and tv with vcr player. The third bathroom is en suite bathroom has bathtub with shower, sink and toilet.
This is a truly exceptional house and is located in one of the most exclusive streets in
London
. It would make an excellent home for one or two families while visiting
London
.

Location
This house is located in the street adjacent to the
Essex
home and is one of the most charming neighborhoods you could find in
London
. Two short rows of Victorian homes face each other onto a common walkway. The street is extremely quiet. Nearby is a small primary school, wonderful to hear the sounds of children playing at lunch time. It is very hard to believe you are in the center of
London
!
The joy of this house is the neighborhood, for just around the corner is
Kensington Church Street
, Kensington High Street and Notting Hill.
Kensington Church Street
is famous for its antique shops and restaurants. Two of our favorite restaurants there are Clarke’s, where you should reserve early for their fixed lunch or dinner. They also have a bakery which sells a wide selection of fresh bread daily, a real treat. Trendy
Kensington Place
is located at the top of the street and serves excellent fish.
One block away you will find Kensington High Street, a popular, upmarket shopping street. Shop at stores such as Marks and Spencer, Barkers, Zara, Habitat, Muji, Lush, Talbots, Monsoon, Accessorize, Mac, Urban Decay etc. Additionally, find your Starbucks latte nearby or eat at numerous good cafés and restaurants.
Transportation is excellent: numerous buses on
Kensington
Church
and High Street Kensington traverse
London
, taking you to all of museums, shows and sites that you would like to visit. The tube station is very convenient, 3 minutes walk from the house.
Walk left on
Kensington Church Street
to arrive at Notting Hill Gate, one of the new, trendy neighborhoods filled with ethnic restaurants and
Left Bank
style shops. The tube (subway) is 7 minutes walk and goes direct to the City of
London
, the second largest financial district in the world. The famous Portobello Market antiques market is in Notting Hill Gate; be sure to go early on Saturday mornings.
Finally,
Kensington
Gardens
is 2 minutes away and is great for cycling, running and picnicking on warm days.
Kensington
Palace
is there, home to the Royal Dress Collection, including Diana’s wedding dress. Museum Row is 10 minutes walk.
We think you will love staying here when you visit
London
. It is a beautiful, central location with easy access to restaurants, shopping and museum row. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
